Mounts: registration, flight controls and version checks

A source-checked guide to mount registration changes, Blackstar troubleshooting and flying controls, with clear limits on unverified routes.

Choose the problem before the mount

Start with what you are trying to do: register an animal, summon a mount you already own, or change how flight responds. These are separate systems. A screenshot of someone riding an animal does not, by itself, show that it can be permanently registered in your save.

This guide replaces our old approximate mount count, fixed species progression and unsupported capture locations. It is a planning and troubleshooting reference based on official patch notes, not a newly tested collection route.

Registration: use the current game prompt

Version 1.07.00 expanded the wolf and bear types eligible for registration and increased rideable animal availability. The notice does not provide a complete species list or universal capture location.

  1. Record the animal’s displayed name and the installed build.
  2. Follow the interaction and registration prompts actually shown in your game; do not assume a temporary ride is an owned mount.
  3. Check that the animal appears in your available mount list before ending the session.
  4. If it does not, record the prompt and the steps you took before attempting a different animal.

Flying controls and Blackstar troubleshooting

Version 2.00.00 added a Flying Mount Controls choice under Others > Input, with Camera and Manual modes, and fixed a Blackstar cooldown issue. Test the chosen mode in open space before using it during a fight; compare turning and camera movement separately.

Version 2.01.00 addressed the wrong mount being summoned instead of Blackstar. If your result differs, write down the platform, build, selected mount and actual result. A patch note reports the developer’s fix; it cannot prove that your particular save is unaffected.

Plan a route without an unsupported unlock order

Choose an already available mount for the next trip, then check the next quest’s actual requirement. Leave a return option rather than assuming a new capture or flight unlock will work midway through the route.

RecordWhy it matters
Platform and installed versionLets you compare the relevant update and rollout.
Exact mount name and ownership stateSeparates a temporary ride from registration.
Selected control modeSeparates a settings mismatch from an input fault.
Expected action and observed actionGives a reproducible correction or support report.

Older individual entries are retained as correction notices while their routes are rebuilt. They no longer claim confirmed statistics or rewards. Continue with the patch tracker or send a correction with evidence.
